The charming Slovenian capital, Ljubljana is the only large city in the country. Dominated by the Castle Hill with Medieval Ljubljana Castle on top, the city is a picturesque Balkan mix of architectural styles, romantic bridges and scenic views.
Due to two major earthquakes in 1511 and 1895, which destroyed many buildings, the Old Town features a range of styles: from Roman period, through Medieval Baroque to Vienna Secession. This trend exists throughout the city with many Gothic-style buildings featuring elements from different periods added later on.
Strolling along the Ljubljanica River you will see the Triple Bridge, connecting two parts of the centre and beautifully lit in the evenings. Make a stop at the Prešelen Square, Ljubljana’s most popular meeting point with Franciscan Church of Annunciation and one of the main shopping streets, Čop Street.
With over 10,000 cultural events a year and still preserving the charm of a smaller town, Ljubljana is a city where one can truly relax: on a bench in the Tivoli Park, in one of the bars of the Town Square or on a funicular going to the top of the Castle Hill.
Whether you’re looking for cheap or luxury hotels, near the city centre or the Brnik Airport, Booking.com has plenty of properties for your Ljubljana holiday!
Ljubljana is a very beautiful, friendly city. Great choice of eateries and coffee places, interesting Sunday flea market and lots of independent shops.
Would have loved to stay a longer time! The air is clean, the river is beautiful, there are birds everywhere and cute chimes from all the churches.
It is a small city and feels very welcoming, relaxing and altogether addictive. If you like things quiet and expect quality in your food and lodging, you will find that here.
I have travelled to many parts of the world and this place is an absolute gem. Just leave some space for my return....and look out for the old guy that sells his paintings on a Sunday stall along the river. He's mastered the art of painting, as well as operating a card payment machine that most old guys would struggle with! All without any ability to speak my language, nor I his....!

Lovely city with plenty to do for a day!
Lovely city with plenty to do for a day! We preferred other areas of Slovenia but the city is very nice to visit too. We walked on foot which was very accessible. The castle on the hill was great, you don’t need to buy entrance ticket or the ride up to still enjoy it.

We stayed in the Old Town which was a great location to explore this beautiful city. Managed to get visits to most of the attractions, including a couple of museums and time to travel to Lake Bled too.
Plan you time wisely and you can do and see a lot without having to rush.
People were friendly and there are a great range of eating options.

It's a small town, so one full day is enough to see and do basically everything there (at least the main tourist attractions). The day trip to Lake Bled is a must imo, specially in a sunny day.
Ljubljana is too dark at night... like, the public illumination is too poor, feels kinda depressive or scary.
Also there's no 24h convenience shop close to the touristic area, so if you're traveling on a holiday, you must buy whatever you want/need in advance.

Ljubljana is one of those places that anyone should visit.
Ljubljana is one of those places that anyone should visit. It's a slow pace city filled with centuries of history and the firm print of the Hapsburg empire in its many buildings and square.
There are plenty of stylish cafes and restaurants to sit outside and contemplate the world while having a wonderful meal or siping the local wine. If, like me, you have a sweet tooth don't leave without trying Prekmurska Gibanica, the local layered-based cake, a true delight!
Antiq Palace's location is perfect - in the city centre, near the pedestrian zone and many interesting buildings and institutions. One of those is the musical school. When you open the window you can hear musical rehearsals which give you the real feel of the city's atmosphere. I felt I got the personal soundtracks of my stay in Ljubljana, as authentic as the whole central city's architecture and tradition. If you need a good night’s sleep this hotel is the right place to stay. The hotel staff is very pleasant and professional.
A well-situated apartment (between the city centre and train station, and close to shops and a supermarket), and a very well-equipped room (with a desk, a small fridge, and even a kettle - which can be rare in hotels this part of the world), and a very comfortable bed. And the buffet breakfast was superb, with a very wide range of options. It's a little more expensive than some other hotels in Ljubljana, but good value for what it offers.
We were very satisfied with our stay. Kind staff, comfortable rooms, super pet-friendly hotel (doggy gets treats and cuddles) in the city centre, in my favorite area in Ljubljana. I lived three houses away when I lived in Ljubljana. Surrounded by bars and hip restaurants. There’s also a very comfy common area, probably very useful for winter and rainy days. We stayed there twice and for sure we will come back when we are again in Ljubljana.
- location: walking distance to old town
- clean rooms
- comfortable bed
- good water pressure, didn’t run out of hot water
Things to note:
-they do have a parking garage, but it’s €39/night. If you’re there over the weekend, you may be able to find free street parking nearby.
- the breakfast is €19 for a buffet. We chose to eat at Le Petit Cafe nearby, and I’d definitely recommend that. Great food and atmosphere.
The room was just fabulous, the staff very helpful and friendly, the hotel offered drinks, fruit and light snacks throughout the day which was generous and a lovely touch so that we could escape the heat of the city. The hotel was so quiet as well given that it is a city centre location.
The lady at the reservation desk was really kind and helpful. The room was comfortable and clean. The breakfast buffet is not rich but it was ok for us. Although the hotel is far away from the old town, the taxi costs just 6 euros and it takes just 6-7 minutes to get there.
Great location, about a 15-20 minute walk from Old Town but far out enough that it is not too noisy around the hotel. Staff were courteous and helpful, and the breakfast was a great way to start the days. Rooms were clean and beds were comfortable, great value for money.
Spacious room with comfortable bed
Good location - the city centre was really close
Very nice staff at reception - they gave us a map, recommended some restaurants for the evening
At the day of the departure we could leave the car at the hotel after check-out
A well located hotel within easy walking distance of the city centre and castle. Staff were extremely polite and accommodating to requests and went above and beyond to ensure our stay was pleasant - a credit to the hotel and city - keep up the good work.
Just a great place to stay and not too expensive. The hotel is very clean with 24 hour tea and coffee. Our room was very nice. The hotel staff were great. The hotel is very quiet but very close to the old town. We had a wonderful experience here.
The hotel has an elegant design and is located in the heart of old town. We were greeted with cookies and blueberry liquor and had a lovely breakfast the next morning. Service was fantastic, beds comfy, rain shower excellent.
Everything was great! Anna was amazing! Flawless communication. She gave us few tips and met us as agreed. Location, rooms and the private parking. 10 mins walking from the old town. Thanks for the great experience!
One of the best hostels I've ever been to! Staying in a former prison was a really unique experience. The staff were brilliant and the free breakfast was hotel standard. It was a short walk into the city centre.
Spacious, clean & modern room.
A kettle in the room with tea, coffee sachets.
Although the location is a bit far from the city centre, there were many buses from city centre, stop in front of the hotel.
We stayed one night with a group of friend.
Nice hotel close to the city centre. The rooms were spacious and newly decorated.
Continental breakfast with fruits and an automatic coffee machine.
